The rains received in the ASAL areas from March to May 2018 resulted in good regeneration of forage. Currently, the condition of pasture and browse is good and is expected to last up to October while water sources for both livestock and households are expected to slightly change over the next three months.

Ongoing harvesting of pulses, millet and sorghum has replenished household food stocks in the marginal agricultural counties thereby improving food availability. During the month of July, prices of cereals and legumes declined while those of livestock remained above average which has led to improved terms of trade for livestock keepers in nearly all the ASAL counties.
